December - What's on?

We have made it through the first week of December and we still can't believe that it’s the last month of the year already. Where has this year gone? The festive season is now well and truly upon us and as overwhelming as that may be, let us tell you about some of the cool events happening in Radelaide over the next month.

SECOND ASHES TEST: Adelaide

Adelaide is pretty alive at the moment having just hosted the second ashes test at Adelaide Oval. Our amazing stadium in the heart of the city played host to stacks of visitors from interstate and overseas with the weather thankfully holding up throughout the series. The Barmy Army were out in force amongst the devoted local Aussie fans. The action was enjoyed by the thousands of fans that attended, however we know there were also thousands enjoying a Pimm's out on the Village Green without watching a ball being bowled. It was definitely a successful test - ADELAIDE, you were awesome!

ADELAIDE MOTORSPORT FESTIVAL

7 - 10 December

During December we welcome back the roar of engines as they return to our city streets for this years Adelaide Motorsport Festival. This 4 day event celebrates our rich motorsport history. Our city is renowned for our love of motorsport and this festival gives us an opportunity to celebrate this. The highlight of this years festival will be the Victoria Park Sprint which sees over 200 cars competing on the city fringe. The festival also celebrates 70 years of Ferrari. Rev heads rejoice, this is the event for you!

Adult (Weekend) passes $50 and kids $5.

QBE CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT

Feeling the festive vibe? Head along to South Australia's biggest Christmas Concert. Now in it's 73rd year, this year is expected to be one of the biggest yet. Headlining this years event is our very own Hugh Sheridan who will be joined by Taylor Henderson, Samantha Jade, Dami Im, Cameron Daddo amongst many more. This years event is proudly sponsored by QBE, with proceeds going to Novita Children's Services. The weather is forecast to be fine, so why not pack your picnic rug and bring the family and friends along to enjoy a night full of entertainment at the beautiful Elder Park.

LANDROVER POLO IN THE CITY

15th December

Land Rover Polo in the City is part of the largest national polo series in the world, Urban Polo circuit. Having started 12 years ago the ‘Polo in the City’ series has definitely nailed brand promotion and hospitality offerings exuding luxury. As always, this is one event you want to be at this December.

NEW YEARS EVE CELEBRATIONS

31 December

It is hard to believe but the end of 2017 is fast approaching and we then begin to prepare to usher in 2018. The CBD and Glenelg are two of the state's most popular New Years Eve celebrations. The Adelaide City Council are again hosting a friendly event at Elder Park. There will be two firework displays with one commencing at 9pm for the little ones that can’t stay awake for the second display at the midnight countdown. If the thought of the CBD overwhelms you but you still crave a festive atmosphere, why not head to The Bay where there will be a family-friendly concert on the Glenelg foreshore. Again, there will be two firework displays at 9:30pm and midnight. There is also the Big Bash Cricket at Adelaide Oval which sees our Adelaide Strikers take on the Brisbane Heat. This is one of the hottest tickets in town every New Years Eve.

Other things to do:

URBAN BEACH ADELAIDE

A tropical oasis on the banks of the Torrens. Pack the thongs, sunnies and sunscreen. Located at Pinky Flat on War Memorial Drive.

NEON BAR

There is no better venue to enjoy a beverage this summer than at the New NEON Bar located under the Adelaide Festival Centre. It definitely is one of the best vantage points of our amazing riverbank precinct.

HAHNDORF CHRISTKINDLMARKT

This extremely popular Christmas market is the perfect family outing this festive season. Walking through the markets in our favourite German town - Hahndorf you could be fooled that you are actually walking through a European Christmas Market.
