MANABOUTADL take on the River Torrens Segway Sensation Tour
I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t giddy with excitement. I’d seen these Segway Personal Transporters on TV and in movies but honestly expected to stack it on my face in a fantastic blaze of glory as soon as Shane our instructor let go. At least I was wearing a helmet, I thought to myself. I looked over at MANABOUTADL Founder, Eric, and he had that nervous smile of terror on his face as well. Here we go!
We probably over cooked our nervousness levels in retrospect. We were under the super supportive and watchful eye of Shane and Cindy, the passionate powerhouse duo behind Segway Sensations based here in Adelaide. Shane coached us from stepping onto the Segway and putting our feet in the right spot, right up to how to turn and most importantly how to stop! After 5 minutes of navigating around our practice traffic cones, we were confident and ready to hit the Linear Park track and take in the sights of the stunning River Torrens precinct.
The first thing you notice before you even jump on the Segway is how bubbly and friendly Shane and Cindy are. Their passion and enthusiasm is infectious and they really love taking their guests on tours along the River Torrens and they also let us know they are going gangbusters with their Seppeltsfield Winery Segway tour that they operate in the Barossa Valley.
Cindy leads the pack with a handsfree mic that broadcasts to an earpiece that each guest wears over their ear. It makes it much easier to focus on your navigation whilst listening in to the fascinating snippets of information that Cindy dishes out as your cruise along Linear Park. The tour encompasses all of the cool stuff, the new foot bridge across the Torrens, a stunning view of the Adelaide Convention Centre from both sides of the Torrens, the Bonython Park Playground, and heaps more.
You can’t help but notice how beautiful this city of ours is and how great it is to get out and about and experience it in this unique way. We commented on the day that it would be a fantastic activity for families to do for fun and Shane said they’ve had many grand parents give it a go and enjoy it with their families. It’s great for couples, groups of friends, and anyone wanting to get out and about and see Adelaide like they’ve never seen it before.
We had a ball and we’re big fans of what Shane and Cindy are doing for Adelaide. If you’re keen to learn more or book yourself in for this must do experience, get in contact with Shane or Cindy via their website and support these local Adelaide legends.
